What we collect
If you join the mailing list
We collect your email address, and your first name if you choose to enter it. The form uses double opt in, so nothing is stored as a confirmed subscription until you click the link in the confirmation email. Our email provider also records the technical data any email service records: the time you signed up, the IP address the signup came from, and whether you open or click our emails.
We use this to send you new RABA releases and occasional news about the band. Nothing else. We do not sell, rent or trade the list, and we do not send it to anyone outside the providers listed below.
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it works immediately. You can also write to us and we will remove you.
If you write to us
Emails sent to info@rabatheband.com or booking@rabatheband.com are kept in our mailbox so we can answer them and keep a record of what was agreed.
If you just visit
Our hosting provider records standard server data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which is what keeps the site online and protected against abuse. Beyond that, the measurement and advertising tools listed below only run if you allow them.
What loads on this site
These are the third party services this website uses. Each one is run by a separate company under its own privacy policy.
| Service | What it does | When it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Pages | Hosts and delivers the site, and filters malicious traffic | Always. The site cannot work without it |
| EmailOctopus | Runs the mailing list signup form and sends the emails | Always, so the form is available. It only stores data if you submit it |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Stops bots from submitting the signup form | With the signup form. It is part of how the form is protected |
| Spotify player | Embedded album player | Always, as part of the Listen section |
| YouTube (privacy enhanced mode) | Embedded video player | Always, as part of the Watch section. In this mode YouTube does not set tracking cookies unless you press play |
| Meta Pixel | Tells us which of our Instagram and Facebook ads brought people here, and lets us show ads to people who visited | On every visit. You can opt out using the links below |
| Google Ads tags | Same purpose for our YouTube and Google campaigns | Only if we have them installed. You can opt out using the links below |
Cookies and how to opt out
The Meta Pixel sets cookies on your device so that Meta can connect your visit to an ad you were shown. We do not use cookies to build profiles ourselves, we do not read anything they store, and we never receive your name or your email from them. What we see is a count.
You can stop it in any of these ways, and none of them break the site:
- Block third party cookies in your browser settings. Every browser has this and it applies to every site you visit, not just ours.
- Turn off ad personalisation in your Google account settings and in your Meta account settings.
- Use the industry opt out pages at youronlinechoices.eu or optout.aboutads.info.
- Write to us at info@rabatheband.com and ask us to stop processing your data for advertising. We will honour it.
Cookies used strictly to make the site work and to keep the signup form secure are always active, because without them the site cannot do what you came for.
Why we are allowed to do this
- Your consent, for the mailing list. You give it when you submit the form and confirm the email, you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect what happened before.
- Our legitimate interest, for keeping the site online, secure and free of bot traffic, for answering the emails you send us, and for measuring whether our advertising works. If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you would rather we did not use your data for advertising measurement, use any of the opt outs above or write to us, and we will honour it.
Where your data goes
Our providers are based in the United States and the United Kingdom, so data about you is processed outside your country. Where the law requires a transfer mechanism, our providers rely on the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent framework. RABA LLC itself is a United States company and the band is based in Uruguay.
How long we keep it
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. Unconfirmed signups are dropped after a few months.
- Emails you send us: as long as the conversation is useful, and then no longer than three years.
- Advertising and measurement data: held by Meta and Google under their own retention periods, which are shorter than two years for this kind of data.
- Server logs: kept short term by our hosting provider for security purposes.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or ask us to send it to you in a portable format. Write to info@rabatheband.com and we will answer within thirty days. We will never charge you for it and we will never treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information, and we do not sell or share it.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete the record.
Changes
If we add a tool or change what we collect, we update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes are announced to the mailing list.
